Our Story

My relationship with chocolate began many years ago. Having learned to bake at a young age it was primarily just a curiosity about what I could create with chocolate, yet over the years it has evolved into much more. In the early years I was content with sourcing out a pre-made product that I could then manipulate into a number of different delicacies; from rich hot chocolates and gourmet truffles to almond barks and ice cream toppings.  It was a delicious time in my life! 

And then my husband arrived. Also curious by nature, and with a mechanical background, he wanted to know where the chocolate came from and of course how it was made. I also noticed something peculiar; despite being surrounded by my decadent creations he was always looking for just a plain piece of dark chocolate, undoubtedly to savour alongside a mug of hot coffee. Over the next few years I discovered that there is nothing plain about dark chocolate.

In those days there was little in the way of home based chocolate making equipment so with some research and creativity we built our first chocolate mill. Sourcing out beans from the warmer parts of our world we began roasting, milling, and creating single origin chocolate with a high cocoa content and no unnecessary additives. Making chocolate with only 2 ingredients gave access to the beans’ signature flavour. With friends and family always willing to test out our latest batches we were on our way.  

Now as a small family run business, we are excited with what we’ve created and thrilled to share it with you.
